Killing the Flesh…
As I take a look in the mirror, I couldn’t help but think to myself; should a person hold on to the things of the past once they have committed their self to Christ? Meaning the things that they have acquired such as tattoos, piercings, hair cuts, hair color, and different ways of dressing (the way you dress). These things are just to say the least, all people have a past, once we come to Christ we ask him everyday to kill the flesh and make us more like him. This being said, does this makes us less of a Christian if we continued to have our tattoos, our piercings, or if we choose to keep wearing a certain type of clothing? With the Holy Spirit in tow it will transform and renew our thinking and as far as the way we dress, if it was a little to provacative I am pretty sure the Holy Spirit will condemned us when we go to buy that skirt that may be slightly shorter than need be. However I feel that the way we dress has nothing to do with us making it into heaven, it’s the heart and FAITH.
On the other side of things I believe that if a person is save with tattoos, it will not keep them out of heaven also, same with the piercings. If God, and the Holy Spirit convicts you later down the road regarding either or, then you and only you have the right to have them removed or covered up. Think about it, the only person it is offending is man, not God. People we need to read the word for ourself and get a better understanding of its power and knowledge to better walk in his word. God does not want us to be ignorant. You may want to read up more on this in Leviticus 19:28 KJV, keep in mind this is under the Old Covenant. Read from different views and remember who God is talking to, the situation, the reason, meditate on the word and ask God for understanding; MEANWHILE KILLING THE FLESH!!!
